What is a Lab-Grown Diamond?
As the name suggests, lab-grown diamonds are diamonds created in a laboratory, unlike natural diamonds that are ore.

Basically, scientists can replicate the natural process that results in the creation of diamonds in the laboratory. While mined diamonds take millions of years to create, scientists can create diamonds in a laboratory in much less time. Interestingly, lab-grown diamonds grow in just about two months, which is undoubtedly impressive.

Finally, many different factors favor lab-grown diamonds over minerals. For example, the best part about them is that they are much more sustainable, ethical, and affordable than their mined counterparts. Lab-grown diamonds are the ultimate novelty in terms of affordable, eco-friendly luxury.

How are lab-grown diamonds made?
For a better understanding, let's start by simplifying the processes, but just a little

• Natural formed diamonds
The formation of natural diamonds is a process which takes many years to occur. According to studies, the first diamonds were formed approximately 2.5 billion years ago. So the famous phrase “diamonds are eternal” is simply accurate

Natural diamonds require extremely high temperatures and pressures for their formation, so the environments that make these conditions possible on Earth are limited to the mantle, at approximately 150 kilometers deep, where temperatures are at least 1,050 degrees Celsius. These diamond stability zones are located under the continental crust, where the most stable locations are found.

• Lab-grown diamonds
In contrast, lab-grown diamonds undergo an accelerated process and optimization of similar, but are subject to specific controlled conditions. The most significant difference between natural diamonds and those made in laboratories is the time they take to form.

After all, as mentioned in the beginning, the training process in the laboratory is really accelerated, in about two months, which is a huge difference and a great optimization

Thus, the process of growing diamonds in a lab involves cutting-edge equipment, carbon, huge amounts of pressure, and extremely high temperatures, all in a controlled artificial environment.

How long do lab-created diamonds last?
Finally, the good quality lab diamonds will undoubtedly last forever, and there is nothing that dulls the shine or interferes with the shine of synthetic diamonds. It is not for nothing that they say that it is impossible to tell the difference between a natural diamond and an artificial one.
